Built with, not just built on

Swarm's ecosystem is shaped by the teams using it — grantees experimenting at the edges, fellows building the middleware layer, researchers mapping the economics, independent developers pushing alternative clients. This is what the network looks like in practice.

This month in the ecosystem

  • AI agent memory

    Datafund

Data and model provenance toolkit advancing under fellowship — tracking AI data origins with records stored immutably on Swarm.

  • Identity management

    Snaha

SwarmID demoed live at the February Community Call — portable identity across apps and devices, PoC target end of March 2026.

  • Unstoppable frontends

    Metaprovide

IPSH enters QA — IPFS-compatible protocol bridging existing pinning infrastructure to Swarm, now open source for community deployment.

  • Tokenomics research

    Shtuka

Swarmonomics program continues — monthly econometric reports on BZZ market dynamics and storage price calibration now public.

What’s being built

Projects by use case

Projects grouped by the Swarm capability they put to work. The use case labels show where real-world demand is concentrated.

Streaming & media

Censorship-resistant audio, video, and live broadcast — no CDN, no central server

ECOSYSTEM PARTNER

Solar Punk

LIVE STREAMING

Solar Punk builds the middleware layer that makes multimedia possible on Swarm. Their open-source libraries — audio/video streaming, group chat, the comment system — are what other developers build on top of. Their B2B streaming stack (MSRS) is already in production: CryptoMondays runs decentralized live and VOD with chat, no cloud infrastructure. DevCon.buzz, their conference social app, has run server-free at EthPrague, Devconnect Buenos Aires, and Budapest Blockchain Week.

In context

Solar Punk's libraries are the foundation every other streaming project here builds on. MSRS is the first production proof at commercial scale.

GRANTEE

Etherna

VIDEO PLATFORM & TOOLKIT

Decentralized video platform and developer toolkit. Provides BeeNet, Beehive Manager, and an upload/streaming gateway so developers can build on Swarm without running a local node. Hosted the Devconnect Southeast Asia video archive on Swarm.

In context

The closest thing to a YouTube alternative on Swarm — proven at conference scale.

GRANTEE

Decast

LIVE EVENTS

Decentralized live casting and media storage platform by VideoWiki. User-owned data, secure management via APIs and browser extensions, multiple export containers. Live at decast.live.

In context

Live event footage usually lives wherever the platform that hosted the stream decides to keep it. Decast stores it under the organizer's own control instead.
